Getting involved
In June 2016, 15 club members spent a memorable and exclusive evening at Gauntlet Birds of Prey in Knutsford. Read the Press Release here.
We again supported the Lane End Cottage Gardens annual photography weekend in May 2016 (see June 2016 Lymm Life page 10) and our members were out and about photographing the the 2016 May Queen (in the pouring rain!) and Lymm Festival in 2016. One of our members' photographs was used in the 2016 Lymm Festival brochure to illustrate the Food Festival.

As you can see from the photo of our most recent Dickensian stall, the Lymm Photographic is privileged to support our village. Our involvement in the local community has included a rolling display of members' photographs in Lymm library, a stall at two Lymm Dickensian days, a photo display at a local care home and the supply of photographs for the Parish Council's guide to Lymm and current day photos for the Lymm Historical Transport Day book "The Wheels and The Water". In 2015 we took part in Lymm/Meung sur Loire twin town Double Exposure project (organised by Estelle Cadwallader and Hazel Hughes) and supported the Lymm Festive photo weekend at Lane End Nursery in April, plus, as always, the full Lymm Festival and Transport Day amongst other things. We are also amongst the local societies informally connected to the Lymm Heritage Centre.
You will often see our members wandering around the village with their cameras or shooting local events - if you do, stop us and say "hello" and if the person with camera turns out not to be a member of the Lymm Photographic Society, do suggest that they search "Lymm Photographic" on the internet.
With the support of Lymm Life and in partnership with the Dickensian Committee we ran our first public competition in December 2016. See the winner here.
In 2017 we were invited to assist the Scouts with their photography badges and our members will no doubt be seen around the village at various events.

The Society started 2018 with a visit to the Lymm Heritage Centre and we jointly explored ways in which the LPS and the LHC could collaborate....watch this space!

At the kind invitation of Lymm Rugby Club, a group of Society members braved the weather on the 8th September 2018 to take photos of the rugby club in action. Having rained all day until kick off we were delighted that the rain considerately stopped for our shoot.
This was a win-win for our local community: the rugby club gains photos they can use for publicly and through that the photo soc gains publicity itself with credits. What a great inter-Lymm partnership!

October 2018 - Once again this year the Lymm Photographic Society's President will be judging the High Legh Community Association's Photography Competition, from the exhibition of entries on Sunday 14th October in the High Legh Village Hall (1pm-4pm). Many High Legh organisations are participating in the exhibition which will be staged alongside the Photographic Competition. Visitors are welcome to attend free of charge to have a look at the fascinating things that are going on across High Legh village.
November 2018 sees the Lymm Cruising Club photographic competition. The Lymm Photographc Society is pleased to be supporting this community photographic event by supplying a judge.
Then & Now Project 2019 (working title). The Lymm Photo Soc has now started shooting the images for this joint endeavour with the Lymm Heritage Centre. Throughout 2019 the Society will be restaging old photographs of Lymm as they look now, wherever possible including the current occupants, to form archive shots which will themselves become vintage in yours to come. We hope that this project will result in a booklet or similar in a year or so. The first images take in January 2019 were with the Lymm Fire Station engine and crew and staff from Brookfield Surgery (who now occupy the old Fire Station).

December 2021 : We're back in the library! After an coronavirus delay of 18 months, our rolling exhibition has returned to Lymm Library.

We were again very pleased to have been invited to stage an exhibition for the Lymm Festival. As we entered the (hopefully) post-Covid era, at last we were able to set up a real prints exhibition, rather than a virtual exhibition. As you can, the exhibition was well received.
